The greater Seoul area has a population of 26 million, making it the 5th largest metropolis in the world. Seoul has 25 districts (city-sized neighborhoods within Seoul). We have hand-selected our favorite neighborhoods for you to choose activities from.

The list of activities we have included for you are narrowed down from a seemingly endless choice of cool things to do and foods to try. Below, we have listed the five neighborhoods, Myeongdong, Gangnam, Hongdae, Itaewon, and Suwon. Under each neighborhood, we list for you activities within Shopping, Eating, Sight Seeing, and Where to Stay.

01.Meyongdong

Bustling Myeong-dong is a shopping area packed with international fashion brands, luxury department stores and homegrown cosmetics shops. Casual eateries offer Korean dumplings and ginseng chicken soup, while street vendors sell Japanese and Thai snacks. Shows mixing folk music and drama are staged at Myeongdong Nanta Theatre. Nearby 19th-century Myeong-dong Cathedral features a Gothic-style bell tower.

02.Gangnam

Gangnam-gu is Seoul's upscale, modern center, home to gleaming skyscrapers, designer brands and stylish nightclubs where big-name DJs spin techno and house. Dining options span high-end restaurants to bars serving fried chicken and soju rice wine. Starfield COEX Mall draws visitors to its aquarium, while Seoul Arts Center has a design museum and a theater. Buddhist temple Bongeunsa dates to the 8th century.

03.Hongdae

This area is very accommodating to the younger age demographic, known for trends, underground culture, art murals, night life, street performance, and incredible foodie experiences. a popular hang-out for local youths. Unique cafes, cosy galleries and fashion shops line the streets.

04.Itaewon

Itaewon is known for its cosmopolitan dining and nightlife, with Korean BBQ restaurants, and upscale bistros, as well as low-key kebab shops catering to a late-night crowd. Casual beer bars and gay pubs sit alongside hip dance clubs where DJs spin hip-hop and house. Indie stores selling homeware line Itaewon Antique Furniture Street, while the nearby War Memorial of Korea museum displays tanks and planes.

05.Suwon (location of wedding venue)

Suwon is known for the late-18th-century Hwaseong Fortress, with its commanding stone wall and 4 pagoda-topped arched gates. Near Hwahongmun Gate, Hwaseong Haenggung Palace has a traditional banquet hall. The raised Yeonmudae Post, once a military training ground, offers fortress views. Suwon Hwaseong Museum explores the construction of the fortress.
